Why do some MARRIED people listen to SINGLE people for Marriage advice?

I have seen many problems occur with regular relatively smart married people ask their single friends for advice and it ends up in an argument with the spouse. Sometimes its just a single friend offering advice, or suspicions/gossip, and yet they have never been in a marriage situation.

Yes some single people may have seen some things from a married friend of theirs or stuff on TV explaining what the latest advice is on an issue is, but it has been my experience that the advice usually does more harm than good.

Its like a soldier asking a person who has never been in the military about combat tactics because they saw a lot of war movies. It just doesn't seem like a reliable source to take advice from.

What do you think? Have you ever gotten into martial problems because of some advice from a single friend? Why do some MARRIED people listen to SINGLE people for Marriage advice?
I do not ask single people for advice on my marriage. I also do not ask married people married only a short time either. While a person may be a good friend and very smart, until you experience marriage you do not really know. I also do not consider advice from people without children about parenting. Again, until you have experience being a parent, no matter how smart you are, you do not know. Your soldier analogy works perfectly btw.Why do some MARRIED people listen to SINGLE people for Marriage advice?
If a single friend had said that about mine or my husband's sex drives - which do vary and change over time according to stress, age, having young children, medical issues, how well you are getting along at the moment, etc. - we could have accused each other of cheating quite a bit over the years.

Because they offer a different perspective. The analogy you used with the soldier doesn't work.

Sounds like you're married and your wife got some advice from a single person that you didn't like.

I'm single - you want some advice? Marriage is for people who are afraid to do anything society doesn't tell them to do.
Because they want advice from a source with intelligence.

They want to seek advice from someone that is living the good life.
Some single people are just as perceptive as married ones. It really depends on the individual. Your wife got some bad advice, but it could happen to anyone.
A true single friend would tell you the truth. Weather they are single or married. They are still friends.
What I find even more crazy is that people listen to people on here for marriage advice, people who do not know their whole situation...now that's crazy!
It is ';relationship'; advice...nothing more.
