Advice for a friend about marriage and money? please help.?

my friend has been with her boyfriend for a while now and they have been talking about marriage, she doesn't live with him she lives on her own with my son, she is on income support and is at college she gets her rent paid for her off of the council because of this, her partner also does not work as he suffers from OCD and is on benefits also.

they want to get married but my friend does not want to leave herself and her son short of money would she be worse off if she did get married or would their money stay the same?

they are both in Scotland and are worried about talking to anyone as she doesn't want to lose her benefits and such.

they child is in full time nursery covered my the college she goes to, the child is not her partners...

whats the best advice to give on their money situation and will it affect them? are there any good site which might help them out?

thanks..Advice for a friend about marriage and money? please help.?
I don't know about there, but I know for us that nobody can take anything away from you for just checking into something. I have found that most of the time they have been helpful in steering me the right way to not lose benefits or at least tell me what would happen if I did one thing or the other. Talking shouldn't erase any benefits, you haven't done anything to jeopardize them. A simple question like, 'What would happen to my benefits if I were to marry, and he too was receiving benefits?' They should explain it to her.Advice for a friend about marriage and money? please help.?
Lol... If they really love each other, they wouldn't care what the government tries to do with their money... they would just get married and find ways to make it work. OCD is not an excuse to sit on one's ****.. I have an adopted sister with OCD and she works full time, at a decent job..
